The School Readiness Program runs every morning from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and has an afternoon group that runs from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm during the school year.   We currently have 2 spots available.

This program is designed to help children 4 to 6 years of age prepare for school through the integration of skills from the ABLLS-R and Social Skills Solution assessments. The Social Skills Readiness Classroom offers school-like routines that focus on developing peer relationships. Children are provided with routines such as circle time, pretend play and social games. Children acquire confidence with their play skills as they become more integrated into this social setting.

Requirements:

  1. Children who are almost finished the first page of the ABLLS-R or are working on Language for Learning are eligible for this group, as skills are taught in a group setting from the second page of the ABLLS-R and through Language for Learning.
  2. Children must be toilet trained to attend this classroom
  3. Children must not engage in any aggressive behaviours towards themselves or others to attend this group.

Students may attend either mornings or afternoons for part time programming. It is not recommended that children attend these groups for 2 full days and 1 half day for part time as they will miss half of the content. Please note that these programs are not substitutes for IBI but complimentary to your child’s IBI programs. It is still highly recommended that your child attend IBI if recommended and is feasible.

Please check with your supervising therapist if you think your child would be a good candidate for this program.
