#GIVINGTUESDAY

The holidays are almost upon us and with it comes the pressure to find the perfect gift, the best deal. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are notorious for their unheard-of deals and sales on products, so much so that they have become the biggest spending days of the year. Six years, ago, in response to this, #GivingTuesday was born and has quickly become the biggest giving day of the year. #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving and this year, December 3, 2019,will mark the 7th annual #GivingTuesday in Canada.  It is a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favorite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for #GivingTuesday

The campaign harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges. It also brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners – nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals – to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness; it unites communities by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another (fromhttps://givingtuesday.ca)

TIPES is taking part in this campaign this year, and we want to hear from you. We are looking for parents, children, teens, and frontline workers in the Autism + TIPES Community to come forward and share their stories with us; whether it be a challenge they overcame, an incredible #wowmoment or something that changed their life. We want to share your story and raise awareness of this amazing community. There are so many people out there that can relate to your messages, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

In addition, please keep an eye on this blog for monthly submissions from individuals connected to TIPES or the great Autism Community.

The goal for this year is to raise funds to help offset the financial burden carried by families accessing ASD supports.

If you or anyone you know would like to participate and/or donate (one time or monthly donations) to TIPES x GIVING TUESDAY 2019-2020, please contact marnie@tipes.ca or check out our #GivingTuesday page: https://givingtuesday.ca/partners/thinking-in-pictures-educational-services
