BCBA Senior Therapist

(BCBA not required, however it is highly valued – salary will reflect this)

TIPES is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our amazing team of therapists.

A Senior therapist is expected to design, troubleshoot and supervise the implementation of programming as well as supervise instructional therapists (IT’s).

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision of one on one instruction for 10 percent of the learner’s hours per week.
  • Liaise with parents regarding daily activities and programs
  • Liaise with third parties regarding students progress
  • Develop programming for each student incorporating the ABLLS-R, Carolina Curriculum, By the ages and VB – MAPP
  • Train instructor therapists as required
  • Complete ABLLS-R assessments
  • Complete the ATEC assessments online as required
  • Liaise with the supervising Clinical Psychologist
  • Conduct team meetings when required
  • Complete progress reports on a regular basis
  • Meet with parents of students when required
  • Must be flexible with schedule changes
  • Work with a team and help to facilitate the daily requirements of the workplace

Education / Experience:

  • University Degree in a related field
  • Enrolled in a Master’s degree or completed a Master’s degree in Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Disability Studies or Applied Behaviour Analysis
  • Experience working with children with autism
  • Experience as an instructor therapist (IT) implementing ABA/IB programming
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members
  • Candidate to register with the BACB or is already registered
  • Other Requirements:
    • Use of a car with valid “G” class Driver’s License
    • Completion and update of First Aid Course and CPR-C training
    • Police Records Check

ABA/IBI therapist and/or respite worker

This will be a part-time/full-time contractual position.

Qualifications for the position are as follows:

 An Instructor Therapist is expected to provide individualized Intensive Behavioural Intervention instruction, collect data, conduct graphing, prepare teaching material and participate in meetings with the supervising Senior Therapist(s) and Psychologist.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide one on one instruction for IBI or instruction to a small ratio of children using ABA principles. Liaise with parents regarding daily activities and programs. Assess reinforcement (reinforcer assessment sheets). Take data on behaviours using ABC sheets and report behaviours to Senior Therapist(s). Maintain confidentiality. Implement error correction procedures.  Use behaviour observation methods such as graphing and inter-observer reliability to record data. Develop and organize program material. Search for pictures online, print, laminate and organize materials for individualized programs or group instruction. Perform generalization, maintenance and fluency checks. Update maintenance list for individualized programs. Update binder after meetings regarding child’s progress.  Participate in meetings for 10% of program hours with Senior Therapist(s). Participate in team meeting with Senior Therapist(s) and Clinical Psychologist when required. Attend TIPES training and staff meetings. Complete all work in accordance with the guidelines for Occupational Health and Safety Act. Know and abide by all of the policies and procedures implemented by the Board of Directors. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive and Clinical Directors, Centre Manager and Senior Therapist(s). Complete all of assigned paperwork by the end of each week. Complete time logs

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: University Degree or College Diploma in Behaviour Sciences, Psychology or related field.  Knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis Experience in an IBI setting.  RBT and/or Masters in ABA is considered an asset

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES/SKILLS : Demonstrate ability to: Use relevant computer technology, have good time management skills, know how to adjust priorities as required, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality, deal appropriately with upset children and their families. Other requirements: Knowledge of applicable Health and Safety legislation, demonstrate rational judgment of health and safety in unexpected situations, use of a car with valid “G” class Driver’s License Completion and update of First Aid Course and CPR-C training Police Records Check. Position may be designated bilingual


Position 2:

  • Must have, or be enrolled in, a degree in psychology, human kinetics or related field or completed the Algonquin Autism & Behavioural Science Certification Program (or equivalent program)
  • Basic training in ABA/IBI therapy and knowledge of ASD disorders is considered an asset (training provided)
  • CPI and TCI training is an asset
  • Must have RBT certification
  • Current and valid driver’s license
  • Current police check for the vulnerable sector
  • Must possess a current certification in CPR and First Aid Training Class C
  • Must have experience with medically fragile children and education or experience in the healthcare field
  • Must have a nursing background
